On that same 3 week run, there was a gig at the Music Machine which followed a launch party for TV Tube Heart in the ‘Rock On’ shop. Of all the journalists that I had asked to be invited, only one turned up .. the great and infamous Nick Kent, who was accompanied by none other than Johnny Thunders.
.
I invited both to the gig that night, and was a little surprised when both turned up in our dressing room. After chatting for a while, I asked Johny to play a few numbers with the band, and he accepted the offer! He was a really nice guy and, at that point, sober and he played a solid set. Two nights at the Roxy Club followed. Again more punk bands like Sham 69 showed up as well as some punk celebs including Iggy Pop. ..
.
Blink and you’ll miss Pete on the ground in the first shot .. ..
