‘To question the context for art in public space’.
.
This is the running order and flyer from the much talked about, ‘Dark Space’ festival in the Project Arts Centre, Feb 1979 . .
My memory of the Dark Space event is somewhat hazy .. I only saw a couple of the bands, like U2 and Revolver. Other bands I had intended to see either were on a different time slot than advertised or didn’t show up; A particular disappointment was Throbbing Gristle, who never made it. P.i.L also failed to show, leading to a reduction in ticket price. Looking at the extensive line-up, stretched over a 24 hour period, it was very ambitious and ultimately a major alternative event for Dublin at the time. This may have been despite of, or indeed because of the apparent chaos. Who knows? .
